Feature List for Upcoming ZoneTick v3.216 July 2006 For immediate release WR Consulting officially announced today that a new upcoming version 3.2 of ZoneTick World Time Zone Clock will use a new, extended time zone format. It will be the single most important feature in the new release. ZoneTick currently uses time zone information from Windows computers where it is installed. Using the new format will allow the company to support countries such as Uruguay where no strict time zone rules are defined. In Uruguay summer and winter time transition dates are defined by the government each year. No algorithmic way exists to calculate this in advance as in North America and Europe. Nik Okuntseff, CEO of WR Consulting, said, "We are proposing the new time zone format and a free city database to the community. The database will be modifiable by product users as it has always been. Our goal is to introduce a time zone standard to world clock developers and users and create a free repository for city time zone data. We welcome everyone to use it." The proposed time zone format and a free database structure will be documented on the company site for comments. The database itself will become available for free download from http://citytimezones.info ZoneTick Time Converter will also be improved in v3.2 to allow for more flexibility when calculating times for India. If you have any questions, comments, ideas or bug reports about ZoneTick World Time Zone Clock please use this form to send information to WR Consulting. ZoneTick Development Team |
