Zone Tick ("we", "us", or "our") provides a family safety app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Zone Tick, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Account details — name, email address, phone number, and profile photo
- Location data — used for live sharing, geofences, maps, and emergency features
- Emergency contacts — people you add to your family circle or alert list
- Camera and photos — only when you choose to take or upload a profile photo
- Microphone and audio — used for optional safety features such as scream or keyword detection; audio is processed for safety alerts and not sold
- Device sensors — accelerometer and gyroscope for crash and fall detection
- Device and usage data — app version, crash logs, and performance data to improve reliability
- Subscription status — handled by Apple App Store or Google Play; we do not receive your full payment card details
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide safety features — SOS alerts, geofences, live location, check-ins, and family circles
- To send emergency notifications to your designated contacts
- To authenticate your account and keep the service secure
- To manage subscriptions and premium features
- To communicate important app updates and support responses
- To improve the app, fix bugs, and protect against abuse
3. Information Sharing
We share your information only:
- With your designated family circle and emergency contacts when you use safety features
- With service providers that help us operate the app (such as Firebase/Google Cloud, Twilio, and SendGrid)
- With Apple or Google when you manage in-app purchases or subscriptions
- When required by law, court order, or to protect safety
We never sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Data Security
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest where supported by our infrastructure
- We use secure cloud infrastructure via Firebase and Google Cloud
- Access to user data is limited to authorised personnel who need it to operate the service
5. Data Retention
- Personal data: retained while your account is active
- Location history: up to 30 days
- Audio used for safety detection: deleted immediately after processing where possible
- Backup copies: may be retained for up to 30 days during account deletion
6. Permissions
Zone Tick may request location, notifications, camera, microphone, and motion sensor access. These permissions are used only to power safety features you enable. You can change or revoke permissions at any time in your device settings, though some features may stop working.
7. Your Rights
- Access and correct your personal information in the app or by contacting us
- Delete your account and associated data
- Opt out of non-essential communications
- Request a copy of your data where applicable under local law

8. Children's Privacy
Zone Tick is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Users
Your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to protect your data regardless of where it is processed.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
