Terms of Service

Effective 8 September 2026 · Version 3.1 · Zone Tick Pty Ltd
Supersedes version 2.1.0 (9 July 2026). This version removes the mandatory arbitration and class action provisions, adds an Australian Consumer Law section, and states the non-personalised advertising position.

The short version

  • Zone Tick is a supplementary safety tool, not an emergency service. It can fail. Always call 000 (or your local emergency number) in a real emergency.
  • You need to be 13 or over to hold an account. A parent or guardian can manage a circle that includes a child in their care.
  • Only add someone as an emergency contact if they have agreed to it.
  • Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel in the store you bought from, or from your account on this site.
  • Free plans show non-personalised ads only.
  • Nothing in these terms removes your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Where those rights apply, they win over anything here.
  • If something goes wrong, email us first — most things are sorted without lawyers.

These terms are an agreement between you and Zone Tick Pty Ltd (ABN registered in Victoria, Australia), covering the Zone Tick mobile app on iOS and Android and the website at zonetick.com. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data and forms part of this agreement.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account, installing the app, or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, don't use the service — and if you already have an account, you can delete it at any time.

If you are accepting on behalf of a household or family group, you confirm you have the authority to do so for the people you invite.

2. What Zone Tick is

Zone Tick is a family safety app. It provides live location sharing inside private circles you create or join, a one-tap SOS that alerts those circles and your nominated emergency contacts, sensor-based detection of possible crashes and other events, safe zones, check-ins, and family messaging.

Features depend on your device's hardware, its operating system, the permissions you grant, and a working network connection. Some features are only available on paid plans — see Pricing for exactly which.

3. Zone Tick is not an emergency service

This is the most important term in this document, so it is stated plainly:

  • Zone Tick does not contact police, ambulance, fire services or any emergency call centre. It alerts the people you have chosen, and nobody else.
  • Alerts depend on your phone being powered, functional, and connected. Battery failure, hardware failure, an operating system problem, poor signal or no signal will stop alerts being sent or received.
  • Automatic detection — crash, fall, run, scream, keyword — is based on sensors and thresholds. It will sometimes trigger when nothing is wrong, and it will sometimes fail to trigger when something is.
  • The people you alert may not see the notification, may not be available, and are under no obligation to act.
  • Location accuracy depends on GPS conditions and can be wrong or unavailable.

Always call your local emergency number as your primary response — 000 in Australia, 911 in the United States, 999 in the United Kingdom, 112 across the EU. Zone Tick is there in addition to that, never instead of it.

4. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these terms with you, and is responsible for your use of the service.
  • A parent or guardian may set up and manage a circle that includes a minor in their care, and is responsible for making that child aware of what is being shared.
  • Keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • Give us accurate information, and keep your emergency contacts up to date — out-of-date contacts are a common reason alerts don't reach anyone.

5. Your responsibilities

  • Grant the permissions the features you want actually need, and understand that revoking them disables those features.
  • Test the app with your family before you rely on it. Run a practice SOS so everyone knows what happens.
  • Keep the app updated. Older versions may stop working correctly.
  • Do not use Zone Tick as your only safety measure.
  • Comply with the laws that apply to you, including any laws about recording audio and about tracking another person's location.

6. Emergency contacts and consent

When you add someone as an emergency contact, we may send them SMS messages containing your alert and your location during an SOS.

You confirm that each person you add has agreed to receive those messages. Adding someone who has not agreed may breach privacy or anti-spam laws in your jurisdiction, and you are responsible for that. Tell the people you add before you add them, and remove anyone who asks to be removed.

Standard message rates from your carrier may apply to SMS sent from your device.

7. Family circles and shared information

A circle is a private group. What you share into it — location, check-ins, messages, status notices, and any recording you choose to share — is visible to the other members of that circle.

  • Only invite people you trust, and only join circles run by people you trust.
  • You can leave a circle at any time, which stops your information being shared with it going forward.
  • Information already delivered to other members' devices may remain there. We cannot recall it.
  • Do not use circles to monitor an adult who has not agreed to be monitored.

8. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Zone Tick has a free plan and paid plans (Individual Premium and Family Pack). Paid plans may be purchased inside the app through the App Store or Google Play, or on this website through Stripe.

  • Auto-renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
  • Free trial. Where a trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends.
  • Cancelling. Cancel a store purchase in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancel a web subscription from the account menu on this site. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.
  • Refunds. Store purchases are refunded under Apple's or Google's policies, not ours. For web purchases, contact us — and in all cases your rights under Australian Consumer Law are unaffected.
  • Price changes. We will tell you before a price change takes effect, and you can cancel rather than accept it.
  • Family Pack seats are granted to accounts you nominate. Removing a seat ends that person's Premium access at the end of the current period.
  • We never receive or store your full card number. Payment details are handled by Apple, Google or Stripe.

9. Advertising

Free accounts see advertisements in the app (Google AdMob) and on this website (Google AdSense). Paid plans remove advertising in the app.

We serve non-personalised advertising only. Every ad request is flagged as non-personalised, which means Google is not permitted to use cookies or advertising identifiers from those impressions to build or apply a profile about you across other apps and sites. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Ad networks never receive your location, audio, messages, contacts or circle membership.

Optional rewarded ads may temporarily unlock Premium features. Watching one is always voluntary.

10. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Send false or malicious emergency alerts.
  • Use Zone Tick to stalk, harass, intimidate, or covertly track anybody.
  • Add a person as an emergency contact, or to a circle, without their knowledge and agreement.
  • Record audio in circumstances where doing so is unlawful where you are.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded.
  • Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the service.
  • Use the service to break any law.

Misuse of a safety product carries real consequences for real people. We may suspend or terminate accounts for any of the above.

11. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep Zone Tick running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Maintenance, third-party outages (including Google Cloud, Apple, Google Play, Stripe or carrier networks), and factors beyond our control can interrupt it.

We may add, change or remove features. If we remove or materially reduce a feature you are paying for, we will tell you, and you may cancel.

12. Intellectual property

The Zone Tick app, website, code, designs, graphics and the Zone Tick name and logo are owned by Zone Tick Pty Ltd and protected by copyright and trade mark law. © 2026 Zone Tick Pty Ltd. All rights reserved.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you control, for your own household's safety. That licence ends if this agreement ends.

13. Your content

You keep ownership of what you create — messages, check-ins, photos, recordings. You grant us only the limited licence we need to host, transmit and display that content to the people you have chosen to share it with, and to operate the service.

We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not use it to train models. Deleting your account removes your content in line with the retention periods in our Privacy Policy.

14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Read this together with section 15 — Australian Consumer Law rights come first, and nothing here overrides them.

Subject to section 15, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we exclude all warranties, representations and conditions that are not expressly stated in these terms.

Subject to section 15, we are not liable for:

  • An alert that is delayed, not delivered, or not acted on.
  • A detection that did not trigger, or triggered when nothing was wrong.
  • Location information that is inaccurate or unavailable.
  • Device, battery, operating system, carrier or network failure.
  • Failure of a third-party service we depend on.
  • Indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss.

Subject to section 15, where we are liable, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of AUD $100 and the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim arose.

15. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)).

For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time, and if this is not done, to cancel and obtain a refund for the unused portion.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent any part of section 14 would do so, that part does not apply to you. Where the law permits us to limit our liability, we limit it as set out in section 14.

If you are outside Australia, equivalent non-excludable consumer protections in your own country apply in the same way.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, or your breach of someone else's rights — for example adding a person as an emergency contact without their agreement, or using circles to track someone covertly. This indemnity does not apply to the extent a loss was caused by us.

17. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Zone Tick at any time and delete your account in the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account, or through our account deletion page. Deletion has a 30-day restore window, after which your personal data is permanently erased.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that is being used to harm someone, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund any unused portion of a paid period.

18. Resolving a dispute

Email us first. Almost everything is resolved this way, quickly and without cost. Write to support@zonetick.com setting out the problem and what you would like us to do. We will acknowledge within 7 days and work with you in good faith to resolve it within 30 days.

If we cannot resolve it between us, you may take the matter to a court of competent jurisdiction, or to a consumer body such as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission or your state's consumer affairs office. Privacy complaints can go to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner — see our Privacy Policy.

We do not require you to give up your right to go to court, and we do not require arbitration. You keep every right you have to bring or join proceedings, including representative proceedings.

19. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the Commonwealth of Australia. If you are a consumer in another country, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the place where you live.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. When we make a material change we will update the effective date above and notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and ask you to accept the new version. If you do not accept it, you may stop using the service and delete your account. Continuing to use Zone Tick after a change takes effect means you accept it.

21. General

  • Severability. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable, or severed. The rest continues to apply.
  • No waiver. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we don't lose the right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your account. We may transfer these terms as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business, on notice to you.
  • Force majeure. Neither party is liable for failures caused by events genuinely beyond its reasonable control.
  • Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service. The version published at zonetick.com is the authoritative one; the copy shown in the app is provided for convenience and is kept in sync with it.
  • Survival. Sections 3, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 19 survive termination.

22. Contact us

  • Privacy: privacy@zonetick.com
